Universal calls it Florida’s biggest Christian music festival, and this isn't just a concert happening somewhere at Universal Orlando. The event takes over Universal Studios Florida after hours with multiple stages, major Christian artists, worship experiences AND select Universal attractions operating throughout the night.
Basically...
Concert festival + Universal rides + an entire weekend at Universal Orlando.
And the 2027 artist lineup is HUGE.
So if you've never heard of Rock the Universe, or you've been waiting for the 2027 details, here's what you need to know!
🎸 What Is Rock the Universe?
Rock the Universe is Universal Orlando Resort's annual Christian music festival, held inside Universal Studios Florida.
For 2027, the main event takes place over two nights:

📅 Saturday, January 23, 2027
This is a separately ticketed special event, so your regular Universal Orlando theme park ticket doesn't automatically include admission to Rock the Universe.
Once the event begins, Universal Studios Florida transforms into a massive concert venue with performances from Christian artists alongside many of the park experiences you'd normally expect from a Universal day.
And I LOVE the idea of this.
You don't have to choose between spending your vacation at a music festival or going to Universal.
You can literally do both. 😂
🎤 The Rock the Universe 2027 Lineup
This is probably the biggest reason people are going to want to attend.
Universal has announced 18 artists across the two nights, with a completely different lineup each night.

Elevation Worship is the big headliner for Friday, so if they're one of your favourites, Friday is obviously going to be your night.
But honestly, if you're travelling specifically for Rock the Universe...
I'd seriously consider doing BOTH nights.

🎢 YES, You Can Ride Universal Attractions Too!
THIS is what makes Rock the Universe so different from going to a regular concert.
You're inside Universal Studios Florida, and select attractions remain available during the event.
Universal specifically highlights attractions including:

Imagine watching one of your favourite artists perform, leaving the concert and then deciding...
"Okay, let's go ride Revenge of the Mummy."
That is SUCH a Universal event. 😂
It also means you don't necessarily have to spend the entire night standing in front of a stage.
You can bounce between concerts, rides and other experiences depending on what matters most to you.
🙌 It's More Than Just Concerts
Rock the Universe isn't simply a lineup of Christian artists performing inside a theme park.
The weekend is built around faith, music and worship, with additional worship experiences taking place throughout the event.
And the weekend doesn't technically end when Saturday night's concerts finish.
There's one more experience on Sunday morning.
☀️ Sunday Morning Worship Service
After two nights of concerts, guests can participate in a Sunday morning worship service on January 24, 2027, which Universal describes as the grand finale of the Rock the Universe weekend.
So if you're travelling specifically for the festival, I wouldn't plan to fly home first thing Sunday morning!
Give yourself time to experience the entire weekend.
Personally, I'd probably make this at LEAST a Friday-to-Monday trip so you're not rushing through everything.
🎟️ How Do Rock the Universe Tickets Work?
Tickets and vacation packages for the 2027 event went on sale September 15, 2026.
There are single-night tickets if you only want to attend Friday OR Saturday.
But there's also an option that immediately caught my attention:
🎸 The Rock Your Weekend Ticket
Universal says the Rock Your Weekend option gives guests access to the Rock the Universe festivities for the weekend plus Universal's theme parks during the day.
If I were travelling to Orlando specifically for this event, this is absolutely one of the options I'd compare before booking.
Because if you're already flying to Orlando and staying at a Universal hotel...
You might as well make an actual Universal vacation out of it.
🌎 How I'd Turn Rock the Universe Into a Universal Orlando Vacation
This is where I think the event gets REALLY interesting for anyone travelling from Canada.
I wouldn't personally fly all the way to Orlando for one concert night and immediately fly home.
I'd turn it into a Universal Orlando weekend.
You could spend your days exploring the parks and then head into Rock the Universe at night.
And Universal Orlando now has even more to experience across the resort, including Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and Epic Universe.
So depending on how long you stay and which ticket package you choose, you could build an entire vacation around the event rather than treating it like a standalone concert.
Something like:
Thursday: Arrive + CityWalk 🌴
Friday: Theme parks + Rock the Universe 🎶
Saturday: Theme parks + Rock the Universe 🎸
Sunday: Worship service + another park day 🙌
Monday: One last park morning or head home ✈️
Now THAT sounds like a weekend.
🏨 I Would Definitely Consider Staying at Universal
For an event where you're potentially staying in the park late at night, staying at a Universal Orlando hotel would make the entire weekend much easier.
After spending the day walking around a theme park and then staying out for hours watching concerts...
The last thing I'd personally want to do is deal with a complicated trip back to an off-site hotel. 😂
Depending on your hotel, budget and vacation package, staying on-site can also give you access to Universal hotel benefits.
And because Rock the Universe happens in January, I'd compare the available resort rates and packages before automatically choosing the cheapest hotel elsewhere.
Sometimes convenience is worth A LOT - especially after a very long theme park day.
👨👩👧👦 Is Rock the Universe Just for Youth Groups?
NO!
This is something I think is important to clarify because Rock the Universe is definitely popular with churches, youth ministries and other groups, but you don't need to be travelling with a church or youth group to attend.
Universal offers options for individual guests as well as groups.
So this could work for:
✨ Families
✨ Couples
✨ Friend groups
✨ Church groups
✨ Youth groups
✨ Christian music fans
✨ Universal fans who also love the artists performing
Basically, if the lineup appeals to you, you don't need to wait for someone to organize a giant group trip.
🎶 Should You Do One Night or Both?
This is going to depend almost entirely on the lineup.
If you're mainly interested in Elevation Worship, Friday may be enough.
If you're really excited about Josiah Queen, Katy Nichole or CAIN, Saturday might make more sense.
But if several artists across BOTH lineups are on your playlist?
Do the weekend.
You're already going to Orlando.
You're already getting a hotel.
And the entire event only happens across these two nights.
I'd rather plan around both nights than get home and realize half of the artists I wanted to see performed the night I skipped.
⭐ Who Is Rock the Universe BEST For?
I think this event makes the most sense for people who already love Christian music and would enjoy combining that with a Universal Orlando vacation.
It could be especially fun for families with teens, because you're getting something completely different from a normal theme park vacation.
Instead of:
Park. Ride. Dinner. Hotel. Repeat.
You suddenly have concerts and worship experiences happening after your regular park day.
It's also an interesting option for groups because there's already a built-in event bringing everyone together while still giving people the freedom to enjoy different attractions and experiences around Universal.
🤔 Who Might Want to Skip It?
If you're visiting Universal Orlando primarily because you want a traditional theme park vacation and aren't interested in the music or worship component, I wouldn't automatically add Rock the Universe just because it's happening during your trip.
Remember:
It's separately ticketed.
So this is something I'd intentionally book because you want the Rock the Universe experience, not something I'd add simply because you're already at Universal.
I'd put that extra vacation budget toward another experience you care more about.
💡 My Biggest Rock the Universe Tip
Don't try to wing your entire night.
Once Universal releases the detailed performance schedule and stage times closer to the event, figure out which artists are absolute MUST-SEES.
There are multiple performers each night, and you're also going to have rides competing for your attention.
I'd divide everything into:

Would like to see 🎶
Okay if I miss it 👍
Then fit rides around the performances you care about most.
Otherwise I can absolutely picture myself riding something, realizing what time it is and suddenly sprinting across Universal Studios Florida because the artist I wanted to see is already performing. 😂
