Halloween Horror Nights 2026 at Universal Orlando: Everything You Need to Know

Halloween Horror Nights 2026 at Universal Orlando: Everything You Need to Know

Halloween Horror Nights returns to Universal Studios Florida for its 35th anniversary on select nights from August 28 to November 1, 2026. HHN 35 features 10 immersive haunted houses, four scare zones, two live shows, themed food and drinks, select rides, exclusive merchandise and returning icons like Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow. With experiences inspired by Stranger Things 5, Sinners, Hellraiser, Evil Dead Burn, Ozzy Osbourne and more, it’s an unforgettable event for horror fans, teens, adults and anyone who loves elaborate sets and immersive storytelling. However, its intense scares, loud noises, gore and dark environments may not be suitable for young children or guests who dislike jump scares.

Halloween Horror Nights is returning to Universal Studios Florida for its 35th anniversary, and this year, the forces of fear are colliding for one seriously terrifying celebration!

Taking place on select nights from August 28 through November 1, 2026, Halloween Horror Nights 35 will feature 10 haunted houses, four scare zones, two live shows, themed food and drinks, select attractions, exclusive merchandise and some familiar faces from HHN history.

Here is everything you need to know before deciding whether Halloween Horror Nights 2026 deserves a spot in your Universal Orlando vacation.

What Is Halloween Horror Nights?

Halloween Horror Nights, often shortened to HHN, is a separately ticketed nighttime event held at Universal Studios Florida.

Once the daytime park closes, the streets become filled with fog, elaborate sets, live scare actors and roaming monsters. Guests can explore professionally designed haunted houses inspired by popular movies, television shows, music and completely original stories created by Universal.

This is much more intense than a family-friendly Halloween celebration. Expect darkness, loud noises, flashing lights, gore, frightening imagery and scare actors who may suddenly jump out as you walk through the park.

Universal recommends the event for guests ages 13 and older, although younger guests are permitted to attend with valid admission.

Celebrating 35 Years of Fear

HHN 35 is themed around the Infernal Carnival of Nightmares, bringing together two of the event’s most famous icons: Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow.

Jack has been frightening HHN guests since 2000, while Dr. Oddfellow is the sinister showman connected to Jack’s disturbing past. For the anniversary event, the two rivals are joining forces and pulling guests into a carnival filled with twisted attractions, resurrected nightmares and familiar pieces of Halloween Horror Nights history.

Longtime fans can expect plenty of references to previous years, while first-time visitors can still enjoy the story without knowing all of the event’s lore.

All 10 Haunted Houses at Halloween Horror Nights 2026

The haunted houses, sometimes called mazes, are the main attraction at Halloween Horror Nights. Each one is an immersive walk-through experience filled with detailed rooms, theatrical lighting, sound effects, special effects and live scare actors.

Jack & Oddfellow: Chaos & Control

Discover the unsettling origins of the rivalry between Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow before stepping through a portal into the twisted Oddverse. Guests will find themselves caught between chaos and control as these two iconic characters combine their terrifying powers.

This will likely be one of the most important houses for the 35th-anniversary storyline and a must-do for longtime HHN fans.

Sinners

Enter the Smokestack Twins’ juke joint in 1930s Mississippi, where the music is playing and the drinks are flowing, until a group of bloodthirsty vampires crashes the party.

Based on the award-winning horror film, the house will bring guests face-to-face with characters including Remmick and his vampire followers while recreating the movie’s music-filled atmosphere and supernatural horror.

Stranger Things 5

The Upside Down is invading Hawkins one final time.

Based on the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, this house will take guests through locations including the Wheeler House, Hawkins National Laboratory, a military base, the Upside Down and the Abyss. Along the way, expect encounters with Demogorgons, the Mind Flayer, Vecna and other creatures from the series.

This is likely to be one of the most popular houses of the year, especially for guests who may not usually consider themselves horror fans.

Hellraiser

Enter a realm filled with pain, rituals and nightmares in the first HHN house inspired by the original Hellraiser trilogy.

Guests will travel through horrifying locations connected to the films while encountering Pinhead and the Cenobites. With its darker subject matter and disturbing visuals, this will likely be one of the more intense houses of the evening.

Evil Dead Burn

The Book of the Dead has been opened again, unleashing an evil force inside a family home.

Based on the new film Evil Dead Burn, this house will surround guests with possessed Deadites and plenty of the bloody, over-the-top horror for which the franchise is known.

Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness

Music and mayhem come together inside a decaying world inspired by more than 40 years of Ozzy Osbourne’s songs, albums and unforgettable imagery.

Even guests who are not familiar with every Ozzy song may appreciate the theatrical sets, heavy-metal soundtrack and completely different style of this music-inspired house.

H.R. Bloodengutz Presents: A Halloween Fright-Tacular!

Cult-favourite HHN character H.R. Bloodengutz returns to WKNB for a Halloween scare-athon filled with ghouls, gore and twisted television programming.

This original house is expected to combine classic Halloween imagery with the dark humour and creative storytelling that longtime HHN fans love.

MADLANDS: Caged Cannibals

After seeking refuge inside a defunct zoo in a dystopian wasteland, survivors discover that the animals are gone, but something much worse has taken their place.

Different cannibal factions have adopted animal-like instincts and turned the abandoned zoo into their hunting ground. This original house should appeal to guests who enjoy post-apocalyptic settings and gruesome survival horror.

Cybergoria

Thousands of years in the future, humanity awakens from a machine-induced cryogenic sleep with the promise of immortality. Instead, cybernetic caretakers have removed their human flesh and transformed them into something else entirely.

This futuristic original house will combine science-fiction, artificial intelligence and body horror in a frozen world controlled by machines.

INVASION: Alien Abduction

A group of hostile Grays has descended upon a Southwestern homestead looking for human test subjects.

Guests will move through the wreckage of an alien attack while avoiding terrifying creatures, probing tentacles and experiments from beyond our galaxy. This house is a great choice for fans of alien encounters and science-fiction horror.

You can see Universal’s official descriptions for the complete lineup in its HHN 35 announcement.

The 2026 Scare Zones

The scares are not limited to the haunted houses. Several streets inside Universal Studios Florida become scare zones, where costumed performers roam freely among guests.

Unlike the houses, there is no line or separate entrance, you simply have to walk through them as you explore the park.

Infernal Carnival of Nightmares

Jack and Dr. Oddfellow welcome guests into their anniversary celebration, where a seemingly exciting carnival has been transformed into a sinister spectacle.

Sideshow of Decay

With help from Dr. Oddfellow’s dark magic, Cindy has opened a portal inside the carnival junkyard and resurrected decaying nightmares from Halloween Horror Nights’ past.

FORTNITEMARES

The world of Fortnite comes to life as guests enter Freaky Fields, encounter the Battle Bus and try to survive the spreading Storm. Familiar Fortnitemares characters and new creatures created for HHN will transform the area into a living battleground.

This may be a particularly exciting zone for gamers and teens who recognize the characters and references.

Downtown Clowntown

Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Art the Clown and other murderous clowns have taken over the city.

This colourful but disturbing scare zone brings together comedy, chaos and plenty of creepy clowns. Guests with a serious fear of clowns may want to prepare themselves for this one!

You may also encounter roaming chainsaw hordes and additional scare actors while moving through the park.

Characters You May Encounter

Halloween Horror Nights does not offer traditional character greetings throughout the event in the same way as a regular theme park day. Most characters appear as scare actors inside houses and scare zones, and their job is to frighten you, not pose for a relaxed meet-and-greet.

Characters and creatures featured throughout HHN 35 include:

  • Jack the Clown and Dr. Oddfellow
  • Cindy
  • H.R. Bloodengutz
  • Vecna, Demogorgons and other Stranger Things creatures
  • Pinhead and the Cenobites
  • Deadites from Evil Dead Burn
  • Characters and vampires from Sinners
  • Killer Klowns from Outer Space
  • Art the Clown
  • Fortnitemares characters
  • Cannibals, aliens, cybernetic creatures and carnival performers

Fan-favourite Japanese character HamiKuma is also expected to have a dedicated meet-and-greet inside Five & Dime, giving guests an opportunity for a more traditional character photo.

Live Entertainment at HHN 35

If you need a break from haunted houses, two live shows are included with event admission.

Nightmare Fuel: Blood Noir

Nightmare Fuel returns with a dark musical journey through a vampire-filled city. Expect high-energy choreography, acrobatics, fire, illusions and death-defying stunts.

The production can include mature themes, so it may not be the right choice for every family.

Stranger Things: Return to Hawkins

This lagoon show will celebrate all five seasons of Stranger Things through a special WSQK broadcast. Music, monsters and memorable moments from the series will be projected across the Universal Studios lagoon.

It should be a great option for Stranger Things fans and guests who want entertainment without walking through another haunted house.

Showtimes can be found in the Universal Orlando Resort app during the event.

Themed Food and Drinks

The food is part of the fun at Halloween Horror Nights. Specialty booths throughout the park serve limited-time dishes, desserts, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks inspired by the year’s houses and characters.

Some of the featured 2026 options include:

  • El’s Battery Jerky: Creamy macaroni and cheese with garlic bread and pieces of jerky, inspired by Stranger Things
  • Upside Down Chicken & Waffles: A cheese-and-potato waffle with crispy chicken, sriracha aioli and chives
  • Annie’s Juke Joint Catfish & Grits: Crispy catfish served with Low Country grits
  • Chow’s Southern BBQ Eggrolls: Crispy eggrolls filled with pulled pork, cabbage and barbecue flavours
  • Pinhead’s Skin & Meatballs: Torn pasta with spicy pork and beef in marinara
  • Pleasure & Pain Brain: A brain-shaped custard dessert with cake and strawberry sauce
  • Lasagna Burn: Szechuan pork potsticker lasagna inspired by Evil Dead Burn
  • The Prince of Darkness Cake: A dramatic black cake inspired by Ozzy Osbourne
  • Birria Pizza Fries: Fries topped with birria beef, onion and cilantro
  • Rigatoni Ritual Pie: Pizza topped with rigatoni alla vodka, sausage and pesto
  • Torn to Shreds Pork Sandwich: Shredded pork with jalapeño slaw
  • Meat Grinder Red Velvet: A red velvet dessert designed to resemble meat coming through a grinder
  • Walking Tacos: Available in traditional and vegan versions
  • Pizza Fries: A returning HHN favourite

Specialty drinks include creations inspired by Stranger Things, Hellraiser, Sinners, Ozzy Osbourne and Evil Dead Burn. Alcoholic beverages are available only to guests ages 21 and older with valid identification, and select drinks are available as mocktails.

Menus, availability and prices are subject to change. Check the official HHN dining page shortly before your visit.

Rides Open During Halloween Horror Nights

Select Universal Studios Florida attractions operate during the event and are included with your HHN ticket. These typically include rides such as:

  • Revenge of the Mummy
  • MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack
  • Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts
  • TRANSFORMERS: The Ride–3D
  • Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, if operating during your visit

Not every daytime attraction remains open, and rides may close before the event officially ends. Current attractions and wait times will be listed in the Universal Orlando Resort app.

Because most guests are focused on the haunted houses, ride wait times can sometimes be shorter than they are during a regular park day.

The Halloween Horror Nights Tribute Store

The HHN Tribute Store is an elaborately themed retail experience located in the New York area near Revenge of the Mummy.

It usually features several connected rooms, detailed sets, photo opportunities and exclusive merchandise including shirts, hats, lanyards, pins, collectibles, drinkware and anniversary items.

The Tribute Store is generally open during regular daytime park hours too, so you can visit without using valuable HHN time.

What Is Included With a Regular HHN Ticket?

Standard Halloween Horror Nights admission includes:

  • Entry to Universal Studios Florida during the event
  • All 10 haunted houses
  • Four scare zones
  • Both live shows
  • Access to participating rides and attractions
  • Access to themed food booths, bars and merchandise locations

Food, drinks and merchandise cost extra. Parking is also not included with most standard HHN tickets.

Halloween Horror Nights admission is separate from regular daytime admission to Universal Studios Florida.

Ways to Upgrade Your Experience

Scream Early and Stay & Scream

Guests with daytime Universal Studios Florida admission, or a Scream Early ticket, can enter the park before HHN and wait in a designated Stay & Scream area.

For 2026, Scream Early admission begins at 2 p.m., with access to at least three haunted houses before the event officially opens. This can make a huge difference if your goal is to experience as many houses as possible.

You must also have valid HHN admission for the same evening.

Halloween Horror Nights Express Pass

HHN Express allows you to use a shorter line once at each haunted house and participating attraction.

Express can be expensive, but it may be worth considering on busy nights if experiencing all 10 houses is important to you. Event admission is not included with the Express Pass.

R.I.P. Tour

An R.I.P. Tour is a guided walking tour featuring priority VIP access to the haunted houses and additional premium benefits.

This is one of the most efficient, and most expensive, ways to experience HHN.

Behind the Screams: Unmasking the Horror Tour

This daytime tour takes guests through three or six haunted houses with the lights on. A guide explains the sets, stories and effects used to create the scares.

It is an excellent option for creative-design fans, photographers and guests who want to appreciate the details without live scare actors jumping out at them.

Premium Scream Night

Premium Scream Night will take place on August 27 and October 19, 2026. This limited-capacity version of the event includes shorter waits, select all-you-care-to-enjoy food and non-alcoholic drinks, plus a souvenir credential and lanyard.

Premium Scream Night is also the only HHN event where guests are permitted to wear costumes, although costume masks are not allowed. The August 27 event is already sold out as of this writing. Universal’s official HHN guide has more information about tickets and upgrades.

Is Halloween Horror Nights 2026 Worth It?

For horror fans, the answer is absolutely yes.

HHN is not simply a collection of basic haunted mazes. Universal creates movie-quality environments with impressive costumes, sets, effects, sound design and live performers. The combination of major franchises, original houses and returning HHN icons makes the 35th anniversary an especially exciting year to attend.

It may also be worth visiting if you love Stranger Things, Sinners, Hellraiser, Evil Dead, Ozzy Osbourne, Fortnite or the detailed storytelling found throughout Universal’s attractions.

However, HHN can become expensive once you add Express, food, drinks and parking. Lines for the most popular houses can also become very long. If you only have one night and want to complete all 10 houses, arriving early with Stay & Scream or purchasing Express will give you a much better chance.

Who Would Enjoy HHN 35?

Halloween Horror Nights is a great choice for:

  • Horror movie and television fans
  • Teens and adults who enjoy haunted attractions
  • Stranger Things, Fortnite and Ozzy Osbourne fans
  • Groups of friends looking for a unique night out
  • Theme park fans interested in sets, costumes and special effects
  • Returning HHN guests excited about the anniversary characters and references
  • Visitors who enjoy Halloween but want something much scarier than a family event

Who Might Want to Skip It?

HHN may not be the right fit for:

  • Young children
  • Guests who strongly dislike jump scares
  • Anyone sensitive to gore, frightening imagery or loud noises
  • Guests who are uncomfortable in dark or enclosed spaces
  • Anyone expecting a family-friendly trick-or-treating event
  • Visitors who only have one evening and would be disappointed if long waits prevented them from completing every house

There are no completely scare-free paths through the park because scare zones are located along the main walkways. Scare actors will not touch guests, but they may approach closely or startle you.

Final Thoughts

Halloween Horror Nights 35 is shaping up to be one of Universal Orlando’s biggest Halloween events yet. Between 10 incredibly different haunted houses, returning icons, nostalgic HHN characters, major horror franchises, live entertainment and creative food, there is enough happening to fill an entire evening, and potentially more than one.

If you love horror, immersive storytelling or the excitement of facing haunted houses with your friends, HHN 35 is absolutely worth experiencing. If you are nervous about the scares but still curious, visiting with a supportive group, using Stay & Scream and taking breaks for shows or food can make the night feel much more manageable.

Halloween Horror Nights runs on select evenings from August 28 through November 1, 2026, and popular dates can sell out. Visit the official Halloween Horror Nights website for current dates and ticket options.
